About this fixture
Olympique de Marseille kicked off the 2026–27 Ligue 1 campaign by hosting RC Strasbourg Alsace at the Stade Vélodrome. The primary hurdle for Marseille was establishing cohesive attacking rhythm in their first official match under new manager Bruno Génésio while attempting to unpick a compact Strasbourg defensive block. The objective for Les Phocéens centered on utilizing wide overloads, maintaining territorial pressure, and securing an early three points at home. Concurrently, the mission for Strasbourg involved frustrating the home supporters, remaining organized without possession, and striking on swift counter-attacks through Sékou Mara.
